As for me, Mirca Eliade, Mihai Eminescu, Ion Caragiale, Aurel Vlaicu and Grigore Lese look like typical French people.
They can be compared to the French tourists and ship-owners in Odessa, French actors, politics, scientists, artists or may be to the examples of French people by Montandon etc.

May be there is some anthropological convergention between French people and Romanians - both are basically people of south-european stock but with the central-european influences and with slightly northern-european influence.
But it is in my subjective opinion.

In my opinion, it is a Thraco-Slavic mixture:
KM+Mediterranean
I guess, we shouldn't underestimate Slavic influences in Romania - especially in Northern and North-Eastern parts.
